. Contracted to move existing backup tool (HP OMNIBACK 4) to their newest backup tool Veritas NetBackup. Including gathering user requirements via interviews and data mining existing documents & databases. Ensuring that all systems, applications and ORACLE RAC databases were covered and scheduled to provide smooth and continuious flow of data across the network to ensure backups completed within the backup window. Created & documented media policies, backup policies and established offsite handling and rotation procedures. Contract also included gathering and preparing metrics needed by management to validate SLA requirements. Existing systems were running RH Linux 2, all were upgraded to RH ES/AS 4.1 (Platforms include Compaq, HP D380, BL20P, BL40p, SUN V240, V440, V880) Linux depending on application requirements. Coordinated with application owners and Project Manager to ensure all parameters needed to ensure proper application startup once moved. Contract Systems Engineer . Was part of the original team that initiated the GSI project in 2001.
